Steve,

>>If: Microsoft announced that they were dropping VB and were pouring all their efforts into VFP. Some would say: Look out, VFP is going to become VB. They'll just hang the name VFP on the VB code.
>>
>>If: Microsoft announced today that they'll be pouring millions into advertising VFP 7.0. Some would say: That just proves that it isn't an enterprise ready language. Why does it need so much advertising?
>>
>>If: Bill Gates and Steve Balmer went on CNN tonight and announced that the best way to develop applications for the enterprise is with VFP. Some would say: They're hedging their bets against a .NET flop. As soon as .NET takes off, VFP is doomed.
>>
>>If: Microsoft announced that the next version of Windows is actually written in VFP.... you get my drift.
>>
>>It seems like we're a pretty hard group to please. We seem to see a conspiracy no matter what Microsoft does.
>>
>>I wouldn't swap jobs with RGreen for, well, for his salary. :-)

>Hi Marty,

>Yeah, poor ol MS. Nobody understands them. I mean, if we'd just get to know them better, or just give 'em a chance. It's just not fair how impotent they've been rendered in their handling of VFP contrasted with all of their other products. And who did all this to them? We did. Any gripe is just conspiracy and nobodys fault but our own. MS is certainly not responsible. I mean, I can send ya a link that shows them actually lifting a finger, and one time BG even said the name "FoxPro". It's true! And I'm trying to install SP5 right now. Installation won't work. And I'm following instructions, etc. I *think* I'm capable of installing an SP. Must be a plot somewhere! Just like I know that Win98 blue screen every 1 1/2 days is a plot too! Oops, there I go again, picking on poor ol MS. Habits!
>
>Enjoy, Steven-

Actually, BG once wore an official FoxPro beta sweatshirt. For a whole evening with some 100 guests at his home in Seattle. I know since I personally gave it to him. It was for FP 2.0 and was in 1992. Wore it the whole evening. It was also at this time that, to my knowledge, that the one and only time ever that Microsoft got a hard liquor permit for their campus. <g> Fox-heads are an unruly bunch. <g> Bill Gates got the cream of the crop when he bought FP from Fox Holdings, Inc.. Kept all the developers except one as well whereas CA & Borland eviscerated their respective development teams.
Best,

DD
