>What is the difference between "sinking events" and "raising events"?
Raise an event means to make the event happen.
"Sink" in this context usually means "become felt or understood:
The meaning finally sank in", (according to
www.dictionary.com :) i.e. it is the process of receiving the event that was raised (or happened).
