Sure, it's ok. And it would work well if you had VFP business objects accessing the data and serving it to the front end. But if you are considering constructing an application in VB that would access VFP data via ODBC, and there are no other applications using that data, you might ask yourself why. The beauty of VFP data is its speed and native language, when you access VFP data from another language, you throw a lot of that away. Of course if you have other (VFP) applications accessing the same data, the decision is much more justified. If it were me, I would weigh the pros and cons, and probably consider using MSDE as the backend database.
