Somehow I resolved this problem. I will post this just in case it will help someone else.

I uninstalled VFP 5.0a and then reinstalled. This did not help. I uninstalled again and manually deleted the ocx's associated with VFP, then reinstalled. This did not work.

What finally *seems* to have worked is that I manually deleted the ocx's in the c:\windows\system directory and then manually copied all ocx's from the VFP \os\system directory into my c:\windows\system directory. Now it works...imagine that.

I don't know about anyone else but these ocx's are becoming more of a hinderance than a help. Anyway, my *solution* and my 2 cents rolled into one.
