>>I thank everyone for responding. I just wonder if I am getting in over my head. I am not looking to start up a new business on my own. I was only looking to make a few extra dollars to save up for a house payment. The job is mainly a moonlight type of job where I will get payed by the hour. If no contract is used at all, then doesn't that mean there is no liability. This will not be a huge project and I am only getting paid $35 an hour. After viewing what everyone has said, it looks more like I will be going in the whole rather making some extra money. Is there any other way I can get by without spending so much money?<<
If you're worried about getting sued, probably the most important thing to do is "Incorporate", since that will limit your liability if you are sued.
But, if you're that worried about getting sued, perhaps there's something about you or this contract you're not facing up to.
If you don't make false claims, practice due diligence, and keep your Client's information confidential, you're pretty well home free (unless the Customer is a nut).
