> Does anybody know how to get windows 2000 and Linux to see each others partitions?

Linux uses the ext2 fs. NT cannot read this. Linux can read NTFS without a problem, but write support is dangerous. And to top things off, Win2k changed NTFS so yo might have a little difficulty with the Win2k partition (it might show up as HP(ux). ignore that and use the NTFS kernel mod).

They use FAT(32(x)) because both Linux and NT can read/write without problems to that crappy fs.
Whatever you do, don't create any of your Linux partitions on FAT(32(x)). It doesn't support users, groups, or permissions and will ph#ck everything up. If you want to share writable data, create a FAT32x partition and use it.

Not for writing (safely).

No.
