OK, after further testing, I have some new info to report.

It seems that it's my class libraries (particularly the VCT files) that keep growing each time I recompile by a total of about 70K each time. Could it be that when the class libraries are recompiled that the object code memo field (and/or other memo fields in the VCX) is not being packed? Maybe that has been fixed in one of the service packs. In your test, George, did you have a class library as part of the project?

Do most of you actually choose "Recompile All Files" when you build an EXE? - maybe it's not necessary...

Thanks,
Scott

I just tested, and when I remove the debug info, it seems to remain a stable size from build to build. I like keeping the debug info in, but at this rate, I'm not sure I can afford to keep it ... <s> I wonder if SP4 would fix it or if there is some other oddity that I'm just not seeing yet. I was hoping to put off upgrading to SP4 until I had some time to test it with my existing apps.

OTOH, installing it adds the features that were incorporated in SP3 (the Session class, for example), and solves some problems with things like HP printers. Unless, someone else here has any reasons why you shouldn't that I'm unaware of, I'd say "Go for it". I haven't had any problems (and it might solve the problem you're now having).
