Question from an OS and network dummy:
In an Ethernet LAN we have some Win2k Pro machines which are using shared volumes from each other. Now, after a certain time of not using a shared volume on another machine, I will loose the connection to that volume - the drive icon in the Explorer will show a red cross. Applications using files on the shared volume will show error messages. Clicking the drive in Explorer will re-establish the connection, while a Win98 machine in the same LAN has to be rebooted to find the shared volume again.
Who or what makes this happen? Is there a way to keep the connection established all the time?
Thank you for any advice...
Robert
