>I have a 30 user application. Currently each machine has its own copy of the .exe with its data path pointing at a server. My problem is, if one of the machines crash any open files on the server are left open, and stay open until the server is rebooted. As each application mat have upto 30 files open at any one time it dosn't take long before the server is chocked!. Is there a way I can force close these tables if and when an application terminates abnormally. Secondly is the way I have installed this application the best way, or should I have one .exe file on rhe server and run multiple copies?

As far as I know, the files on the server should close automatically when the machine crashes - or at a mimimum when the user logs back on again. Maybe this is some kind of server setting? What OS is the server running?

Running the .EXE locally is the fastest way to do things - but it makes updates a real pain. There are a number of application launchers in the files section which automatically copy a newer version of the .EXE onto the workstation if one is available.

To be honest all servers are just large PC's - just with more cooling and maybe some extra tolerance - (& I suppose a DAT drive)
