Thanks for this. You're right, putting thisform.orecordset.fields('cust_id').value in the controlsource DOES work.

I'm still not sure that this is the way to go, though, since it still seems to be a lot of work to change all the controlsources of every control in every form. I kind of liked the idea of being able to ADO or VFP binding transparently. Hard-coding the control source with this syntax more or less condemns you to using ADO with no easy way back, doesn't it?

What would you advocate as a replacement for the grid? MS Data grid? Is that a robust enough solution do you think?
