You answered my question. I'm coming at it from a different angle. Rather than starting with existing data models, I'm starting from the perspective of what data the users want. I'm then forming a logical model, from which I'll move to a physical model based on all sorts of factors. Our corporate systems are distributed across several platforms and several locations, and are of varying ages. Not all data (not even most) is currently modeled in an ideal way to start with, and we don't intend to put it all in the warehouse.

In any event, the stars are proving a nice technique for the logical model, to flesh out what we'll really need in this warehouse.

Thanks for the opinions.

Isabel
