Frankly, the simplest method is to not use the Report Writer to create it; you are not looking for any of the Windows features exploited by Report Writer IAC, so output using LLFIO or the ??? command, avoiding even a chance for the GDI to get involved, seems the best route - even the use of @...SAY with the generic printer driver will result in predictable ASCII format files. The Report Writer is meant to be a Windows output tool, that really doesn't follow a row/column model.
