>>>No. This design is contrary to Windows guidelines and can't be done with the VFP menu designer.

>>This sort of design was customary once - I've seen it in other GUIs (GEM, probably some Mac, and maybe early Windows). Everything was regularly on the left, but the help was to the right edge of the window. A decision was made (rightful, IMO) that the complete menu should be left-aligned. I don't know if there's a way, short of building your own fake menu bar with transparent textboxes or labels, which could mimic this behavior, and I wonder if it would be worth the while.

>Yeah, I've UIs that do this .. and even some Windows apps. WordImperfect is one example. IMO, it's not worth doing your own. This would mean the app works differently than all other Windows apps. That will confuse and anger the user.

While I'm always ready to listen to the voices of dissent and judge the reasons for not abiding to Windows guidelines (specially the behavior of data entry forms - the only forms seriously covered there are dialogues), in this case I wholeheartedly agree. It's not only confusing now when almost nobody is doing it - it was confusing and needed practice even while it was sort of standard.

OTOH, most of the Windows standards are not respected by Windows itself. Just try to explain how to use it to an absolute novice (or worse, to someone who had experience with any other OS, including DOS), and take notes on what you're saying. I remember I had not sounded too logical to myself last time I did that. Still, the menus are one thing which should not be touched - now that everyone is accustomed to their behavior... forming a habit is a hard thing, changing it is two hard things.
