Hi Rick,
wwSOAP is making waves in Montreal checkout our next meeting.
Do you think we can get a door prices? ;)
Wednesday Mars 28th 2001
Rod Poujade, Senior Programmer of e-Business Systems Group present wwSOAP:
The presentation will begin by taking a closer look at class
wwXML introduced in A.R. MacNeill’s presentation in February. We’ll take a look at
CursorToXML and
XMLToCursor, including
DTDs and Schemas, and also
ObjectToXML and
XMLToObject. We will demonstrate how to build a complex object to represent a business object such an invoice, and demonstrate how this can be used with ObectToXML.
After the review of the wwXML class, we’ll demonstrate how to implement a Web Service using the
wwSoap Class. We’ll build a Web Service into a regular Web Connection server (as opposed to running it as a script), and show how to call the Web Service from a VFP desktop application. We will demonstrate how we can use the ObjectXML presented above to send complex data with the call to the Web Service. We’ll also look at the returning data from the Web Service, including XML encoded cursors for messaging.
After setting up the basic service, we’ll take a closer look at the Web Service class itself to show how support for
SOAP messaging is actually handled. We’ll take a look at some potential problems with implementing wwSOAP, including checking for returned values and the use of SSL.
