In addition to PDF, you can also generate PostScript, which can then be rendered as a graphic using GhostScript, an FSF utility for manipulating PostScript files for printing and viewing - you'd need one of the commercial versions to incorporate with your application. PDF output is much more widely supported in the PC environment, and is generally easier to install for viewing; PostScript output does not require a commercial product to produce the output, viewing andprinting on non-PostScript printers requires the commercial product.
The zetafax printer driver creates a fax image file format as I understand it; you need some sort of viewer to display or print the rendered image.
