Question: is it a requirement that programs get bloated with each new version? I guess so, since just putting "NEW" on the box will sell it no matter if anyone uses those "so called" new features.
I bought Office 4.0 a few years back. I have never found any reason to upgrade (although 32bits applications and long filename support would be nice), and overall I'm glad I didn't. Office 2000 is horribly bloated. Who the hell likes that paper clip anyway? Has anyone ever been able to get something out of that "plain english search"? Why can't Word 2000's autocorrect be consistent? We already have Outlook Express and Internet Explorer installed, why would I need to read/write email and browse the web in Word?
One of the things you really got to like is for us poor suckers in Quebec; you buy the
French Canadian version of any Microsoft product, and it thinks you're in France! Default paper size: A4, monetary symbol: F !
And how come that with the (again)
French Canadian version of a Microsoft software, your product ID is not valid for technical support in Canada - you have to call in France! Nice, thanks, I really
want to call in France...
