>Well, I've finally made the decision to upgrade my poor old P200/MMX at home to a newer machine. At this time, I'm in the process of shopping for the new one (mainly on-line). I've already checked out Gateway. Dell's out of the picture because they don't have a line of machines with an Athlon processor (the P4 is not ready for primetime IMO). So the question is this: Do any of you have any recommendations other than these two manufacturers? Any good things to recommend? Any horror stories?

Can you be a little more specific about what you're looking for? My general advice to people is to stick with the 900/933MHz PIII machines based on the current price point; you pay a hefty premium for the extra few clocks/second that IMO, just are not justified. Some specific issues to consider:
Do you want to be able to add a second processor to the box at some point?
Do you have any legacy devices you want to move over to the new box?
What features are needed vs wanted?
What OS do you want installed to start?
Do you care about anything that should be bundled with it?
How heavy a premium are you willing to tolerate upgrading memory?
