I tried the ShellExecute call and it worked (that's the good news).<g>
However, it called Notepad which prints page numbers, etc.which throws off the mail merge page orientation. Also, with a large print file it defers to Wordpad which doesn't print page numbers, but the page alignment is still off. I've pretty much given up on using the "set textmerge" to print mail merge documents. . . Have ordered Tamar's book "MS Office Automation with VFP" to learn how to use Word 97 or 2000 to do the mail merge function.
My thought (after spending way too much time on this) is that with Win95/98 and laser printers we're pretty much forced to use automation to integrate these types of capabilities.
BTW, I couldn't find Tom Cahagan's "API Section", but after doing a little research it looks like API calls are a "moving target" and as such are not much help for developers. (At least there's no documentation on them). Example is the ShellExecute call. It has 6 parameters, but doesn't appear to have the capability to choose the text editor of your choice when you select "Print" in the second parameter.
