Hi,
Very new to VFP, I am attempting a total rewrite of existing FPW2.6 systems developed over the previous 2 years. The entire system consists of 7 separate large modules with a total of over 100 tables which I expect will convert to 10-15 databases. Each module is currently contained in a separate project which generates an EXE. The entry-system, after establishing user access and rights, then allows the user, depending on their access rights to enter one of the seven modules by running the EXE in question. The user must then exit one module which brings them back to the selection screen, to enter another module. Though not an ideal system, this has functioned perfectly.
I am wondering how to achieve something similar but improved in VFP. Preferably the user would provide their password as they enter and then possibly be provided with 1 to 7 buttons (representing the modules) depending one their access rights. Clicking the appropriate button would activate that module, but the only noticeable difference would be a change of screen title etc and a change of menu option to reflect that module. Users could then proceed directly to another module without having to return to the selection area as the buttons would appear in all modules, possibly as a toolbar.
However, if I do this, will I need to include all seven modules in one project, in which case it would be huge and complicated? Or how would I go about this?
Any and all suggestions gratefully appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
