My memory on what I'm about to mention is a little fuzzy, but here goes

In the HTML Help which comes with VFP (or can be downloaded) I think there's a photo editing package with it
In there are some options for Resizing jpeg images - and there's a multiple files option (you can also change colour depth info)

If this package will do the resizing for you then maybe the renaming can be done in VFP seperatley?
