Just to follow on from what Ed said...

Maybe a Word document's not the best thing to use when you can't control what is installed on the machine...

You could try the Activex RTF control instead
or the Internet Explorer control
Or maybe just create the document using an older version of Word (Wordpad?)

I suppose it all depends what you want to do with it.
