We have all our comboboxes subclassed (no surprise there)
In the container with the combo, we have 3 extra command buttons
2 simulate a spinner - (they look to the rowsourcetype to decide what & how they are going to spin)
1 has an X which clears the contents of the combobox
I feel this is a more intuitive method than having to know certain keyboard tricks as tooltips can also be used.

>In cases where we have a dropdown combo, and there's no blank value in the combo's rowsource, there's no way (that I know of) for the user to blank the value once it was chosen and saved. Since this was a request from several customers, I've added this to the combobox's (first subclass off the base class) level in the keypress event:
