having searched around on the internet and asked in the Fox forum in CSERVE it looks like it is achievable.

Either a simple version using session variables and password entry in an asp page or a complicated version using C++ which is not really my area. Also the potential client is getting someone in house to do it. But I may pursue it as it seems like a pretty obvious thing to want to do.
