If you want to access SQL Server directly from VFP then yes ODBC is the only way to go currently. Both remote views and SQL Pass-thru utilize the SQL Server ODBC driver. I don't know if this changes in VFP 7.

You can always use ADO recordsets and utilize the OLE-DB provider for SQL Server. FoxPro controls will bind to an ADO recordset. The exception being the VFP grid control.
