Well... It depends on the type of app.
I have a very large customer who does everything: Corporate Intranet information publishing (I wouldn't call them apps), SAP / PeopleSoft systems, Cobol system maintenance, C++, VB, Ada, SmallTalk, VFP... So, yes - the right tool for the job.
Most large companies are like this, so to say that browser based web apps are the answer to
everything is complete nonsense.
It would be completely insane to attempt a web app for the VFP project that I am doing for a number of reasons - the biggest being $$$. It would cost them well over $1Million for something they are getting for $100,000 even if they wanted it to be a web app - which they don't.
In fact, companies are begining to dramatically cut back on web app development for many reasons - the largest being the high cost/benefit factor.
