The form and grid are both Subclasses of base objects in my classlibrary
- no createobjects involved (except where I want ComboBoxes or something special in the grid - which in this case is no)

I think you are right.. it certainly seems like I can't remove them

Thanks for your assistance - Using the column collection has done the trick.
