Try renaming your FoxUser.DBF and letting VFP create a new one. Sometimes it gets scrambled. Mine occasionally decides that Ctrl-S means "Delete all the work you did since the last time you saved and add a couple of non-ASCII characters" Very disconcerting, especially if I just added some complex code.
