>This is a question along these same lines. Yesterday, I received a call from someone who is running a 5.0 app and receiving "To many files open" error message. I didn't write the app so it's hard to say what is going on. The app is being run on a Pentium connected to a Novell network. This thread has given me some ideas, but other than that, I've never experienced this error with W95.

Hi Steve,

Unlike Win 3.0, 3.1 and 3.11 the FILES= line in your config.sys is not overwritten by the Novell network when using Win95. Because of this a net.cfg is not needed. My only suggestion to this is to check the users FILES= line in their config.sys and increase the number. Also, check to see how many other apps and/or files they have open at the same time. I had a user complaining about performance before and when I checked his machine I saw that he had the 'taskbar from hell' of open documents.

Hope this helps
