Ricardo,

From the perspective of somebody who periodically looks at VB, and now at VB.net, this is how it compares to VFP.

1) VB biggest advantage is that Bill loves it, so you it gets plenty of resources.

2) To me, VB's biggest disadvantage is that every other version deals with data differently, and they are doing it again with VB.net. They don't seem to care about their customers' investment in code or learning. This is a *big problem* and I bet that attitude won't change.

3) In contrast, VFP is a more stable language, and therefore you can gradually get very proficient at it instead of starting anew all the time. (Except for 2.6 to 3.0. Ouch.)

4) VFP is a richer and more readable language. Built in SQL SELECT rather than building SQL strings all the time; SCAN/ENDSCAN; Employee.LastName instead of rsEmployee.Fields("LastName").Value; It's endless.

5) VFP's biggest disadvantage, and our biggest problem: Not Invented Here.

Thanks for a fine product.

Alex
