Ignore my spelling please (i think the first 10 words explain.. hhehhe)
I use to live in chattanooga, TN (until Nov 99) for nearl 10 years (aug 90) and was from the southeast for most of my life. Tennessee, Nashville, Especially Memphis has alot of these "fishing" companies. RHI Consulting is the worst. They are a Meat Market style consulting firm.

My best advice is contact someone you know who works for a consulting firm, preferable who has a long standing history with the firm, and then use them as a way "in" to a longstanding position of your own. A little history in the company would be a good thing to find out too...

Second option, if you don't feel that the company is going to fail just yet, though they could, who is their sales staff? Take a active step in the sales of business at the business. If you're thinking of becoming independant consultant, this will get you use to "selling your skills" to your potential clients, and get you a client base if the company folds (asum'n they don't leave a bad taste in the client's mouth when they crash and burn), and if they don't fold and you land a couple of sales, you're worth more to the company, and you get that client base for when you decide you want to work from your home 6 years down the line with your mass number of happy clients.
