I have a UDF I call in my startup programs which attemps a FOPEN() on .TMP files. I the FOPEN() is successful (the file is not currently in use), then the .TMP file must be a leftover. I then delete it.

It is important to run this at program STARTUP because once in the app, you never know what the user will do (reboot, shut down, etc.)
