I had some decent success with this product (http://www.biometricaccess.com/securetouch_2000.htm) in its 98 version. They have a couple of ActiveX controls that you can drop on a form and go from there.

FWIW, we had to abandon the concept before final implementation because at the time, authentication was taking approximately 4 seconds from the time a user placed their finger on the scanner and VFP authenticated it. The lag was the automatic recognition of a finger on the scanner (3 seconds). The tech people said they were working on some enhancements that would shorten this time or make it configurable by the user.
