I am working on learning VFP and OOP, but I need to learn the Xbase programming syntax. I understand databases, the database container, linking, referential integrity, tables, indexes, and the sheer power available in VFP. Currently my boss hired a consultant who has no idea how our business works, does almost EVERYTHING in code, and doesn't use any type of persistent relationships. I've talked with a few personnel who are familiar with VFP and we all agree the guy
is basically taking us for a ride, he's heavily programming himself into our DB and unless I learn VFP and quickly sever the ties, we are going to find ourselves needing high level maintenance from a high level programmer, which would be find, but the size of our DB is relatively small compared with what VFP can handle. Now the question is, what can get books/manuals can should I get to bring me up to speed? I'm in the process of taking a CIS course at Coleman College, so I understand Hungarian notation, and have written my own custom functions in VBA for Excel (all self taught). Any Suggestions?
