In that case, I think you may be better off choosing another means by which the user can search the database. Think about what will happen when the database has 100,000 users? The combo box will not be a very friendly search interface.

Why don't you try using a little pop-up search form that you can call from a 'Search' button on your form or tool bar?

If you must use the combo box for navigation purposes, you want to leave its ControlSource empty.
