There is more than one reason for the dos compatibility mode in win95.

You can check:

--If you have a Syquest with no cartridge insert.

--If you use Guest.exe with a ZIP Drive. (install the drivers from win95 CD)

--If your BIOS is old (updating it can resolve your problem)

--Look at the Performance tab, you can see the if it's an old driver(16 bits)
who cause the problem.

--You can also verify the hardware manager tab if all your drives are corectly
installed.
