>Gawwwd, another HP3000. Like Dos programs, they are everywhere - Corporate America's dirty little secret.

>>I finaly talked him into going into client/server, and he converted his payroll and accounting system based on SQL Server 7.0. I sent him the link that you posted. Does this sytem scale to client/server?

>I believe they have a version for SQL Server 7.0. At least that's what is says on the box. It also claims to support Crystal Reports and COM. Guess I should open the box and check it out. Actually, they are just a 15 minute drive from my current contract (I should bill them for this post < g >). Come to think of it, over the last year I noticed a few manufacturers post contract positions on DICE for VFP developers having experience with this system.

>Most MRP systems live in the big-iron/big consultant/big $$$ SAP type space. However, if you search the Web you could probably find others for small to mid-sized companies.
I liked the demo I saw. Someday I might take over the position of MIS Director at his company. (We've talked about it a little) I never relished the thought of working for my father, plus there's alot of family politics I just don't want to get involved in. Although my father is turning seventy this year, he doesn't want to retire yet. His goal is to modernized the operation before he steps down. I've been feeding him ideas, and have written some small applications for the company on a consulting basis (using VFP, of course!) But the challenge of bringing the company into the 21st century really excites me!
Anyway, thanks for sharing.
