As mentioned in the other message, that aspect of the Points system is only one asset of it. This is not the prime reason of the release of this system. The system is mostly based on the recognition of messages which have contributed in the solution of the initial question of the thread. That opens the door to various other features such as filtering those messages in the search, etc.
