I guess it depends on what kind of "a mess" you're talking about, I guess.

I've done this kind of thing before, but it's always a headache. The hard part comes in figuring out whether the string has a zip or not, and whether the states are abbreviated or spelled out or somewhere in between. And don't even talk about non-USA addresses.

Perhaps someone has put together a general routine that will sift out the info for you. If not, I can give you some guidelines that I've used, but it always took several passes and needed some hand-tweaking.
