I thought I could do it with the wininet.dll functions, but it seems to be too "high level" for that purpose.

I found how to do it using RasDial(). The thing is that I wanted to do it
without the existance of an actual VPN entry.
The trick is in the RASENTRY struct which has fields for szDeviceType and szDeviceName.
The problem is that, for this to work, there *must* be an existing entry for the VPN connection.

It is possible to make a Dial-Up programmatically without an existing entry in Dial-Up Networking(W98) or Network and Dial-up Connections(W2k) but for the VPN it seems an entry must exist. :|

The Dial-UP before VPN works but only on W2k, unless there's a registry key in W98/NT4 that can do the same thing.

Thanks for the help.

>My exoerience has been that I've needed to connect to the internet (DSL or dial-up) and then use the VPN. The VPN connection is configured with host name of IP address of the VPN server. (I'm using Windows 2000 Professional so it might be different on other versions). On one of the tabs, you can configure the VPN connection to dial-up before trying to establish the VPN connection.
