Colin,
The problem with the "UNKNOWN" status does happen a lot. You have to check the status from the PC that sent the fax and I have found if you don't check it before rebooting the PC you can get "UNKNOWN". Also be sure that the field used to hold the fax id is big enough. 107 bytes I think.

As for the printer driver, you should set the printer each time just before you print. I have had little luck setting it to the default. Often it will not set it back. In my application we have a table that holds where each report was sent to last and select that as the default before printing.
