We'll probably see a 2ghz processor within 2 years. Multiple ones on the same system board within 3-4. Of course, this assumes that the progression we've seen in the past continues. Of course, the size of the apps seems to be increasing at the same rate.< g > Of course, if that 2 ghz is a P4, given it's current problems, it won't make much difference.:-)

One thing that I've noticed doesn't happen anymore is that the software never really gets to the point where it takes fully advantage of the clock speed. Afterall, who, any longer, goes into compiled code and optimizes it into machine code? Used to be commonplace, especially with operating systems.
