They may do co locating very well, but they SUCK at shared hosting. I've had up to 5 sites with them, all but one is now moved. It will be gone as soon as I can. They screw up the server, tell you it’s your code, until you prove to them its not. That takes at least 10 calls until the problem get moved up the chain far enough, so you can talk to someone who can at least spell server. I can’t tell you all the bonehead things they have done and then the Bonehead things they have said to cover themselves. My latest go around, they are hosing my password, I call, they set it to what they want. 6 times in the last 10 days. Last person I talked to explained to me that I was not on that server by myself, and every time they had to reboot the server for anyone, my password would get trash. I had two choices according to them.

1. Live with it, because I'm too cheap to move to dedicated server.
2. Move to a dedicated server.

We have multiple servers at work, and I've never had passwords trash from a reboot, have you?

Interland has caused me to spend about 100 hours, of non-billable time, explaining their problems to them. Anyone who would like a detailed list of Interlands shared hosting stories can feel free to email me.

This site uses about 75 meg of disk space and gets around 1000 hits a day.
So I don’t think I can have my client spend the extra $300 or so to move up.

But I’m not bitter. ;)

>you might check out www.interland.com co locating, co hosting is what they do.its all they do and they do it quite well.

>but what the others are saying, for various reasons, you most likley will have to use one machine to host the site, But you could configure it, and send it to an ISP just for the bandwidth, and IP Then they will just make sure there is power, and backup and you access it from pcanywhere, and run the server yourself.

>Personally, I host my own sites, I have three fox sites at my office, doing differnt things, and one at my home. Hosting its really not a big deal, take an old 300 mz machine and turn on the services. and walk away.

>honesly the bandwith isses are not all that much if you are just serving web pages, and not streaming media.

>And the last thought is the net is world wide, host your site here in US if you cant find a good hosting solution in the UK, you monitor it from the UK, the latentcy issues are not that bad as far as I can tell...
