Well you did say:"And for the record, there are already companies working with .Net and moving their development there. I know of one large shop here in Salt Lake City that is doing that.".
True, you didn't say "productively deploying" but then I wonder what you meant to infer/imply??? I mean "...already companies working with .NET..." sure sounds like 'productively deploying' to me.

>Now, forget the marketing. Look at the entire .Net picture, not just VS.Net. Office, Servers, OS... everything from MS is moving that direction. It *will* be used and accepted, if for no other reason, MS will force people to move that direction.

I don't doubt for a minute that MS intends to have .NET work *and* to do their damnedest to force people there. But that doesn't mean that it **will** happen, and it certainly doesn't mean that it will happen quickly. It could be years, literally, if it happens at all. And it could end up being just a shadow of its *intended* self when all is said and done. At this point it sure doesn't look like it's going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, that's for sure.

Anyway, my main point was that you made it sound like it's already here (when, incidentally, I saw another message by you where you stated that (paraphrasing) '.NET is beta1 and it is promised that the next release will be faster') when in fact it has a long way to go.

If you had simply said that 'there is already a company in the Salt Lake City area using beta2 of .NET, moving their development there' it would have had a whole different meaning and I never would have interjected.

Cheers,

JimN
