>>I've got a form with a whole bunch of read-only textboxes on it but I want the user to be able to SETFOCUS to a textbox and then trap key strokes (in this case the space bar and arrow keys). The trapping all works fine but I get the annoying 'Control is Read-Only' warning msg. Anyone know how to "disable" it? I don't really want to issue a KEYBOARD command (like KEYBOARD " ") which would "clear" the msg because that may interfere with subsequent key-trapping and it would be a pain to issue CLEAR TYPEAHEAD in this case.

Yep, that did it! Thanks Craig. Strange though, the VFP documentation specifically says that SET NOTIFY affects 'system messages' and that "System messages are displayed in the graphical (not the character-based) status bar at the bottom of the main Visual FoxPro window." (from MSDN VFP Doc)
Weird huh?
