well, since form xxx is spawned from another form with DO FORM, then by definition it cannot be a Top Level Form, right? For what it's worth, when I set the form to WindowType=0 (modeless), it behaved precisely the same way. Explicitly setting it to modal again made no difference. I'm really at a loss now, because this behaviour appears to fly in the face of the docs. I'm going to try the form as is under VFP5 just for kicks and see what it does. Something tells me that the form is "sticking" in modeless 'mode'.

Any other thoughts?
