I in the code i was setting the ordernumber to the

THISFORM.cntMain.grdOrderno.Column1.Text1.VALUE

I switched that to go directly to the alias.field(recordsource) and that seems to have taken care of the problem. I will run like this for a while and see how it goes.I appreciate your time and help. thanks again
