I want to upgrade the storage on an NT 4.0 server (SP6a). Currently it has one SCSI drive, split into two partitions (C: for the OS and D: for data/apps).

I am swapping the single SCSI drive for a RAID 5.0 array which I want to use as the main storage device for the server. I will also fit a small IDE drive for Windows swap file duty only.

Is it possible to transfer the entire contents of the existing drive over to the RAID array (which I will still probably partition as C: and D:) and still retain security and account settings?

There is an KB article at MS (Q112019 - Changing Primary Disk System After Installation) by this applies to NT 3.1 and I'm not sure if it would be the same for NT 4.0
Regards
Mark
