I think the problem here is that the client wants to be able to distribute their internet catalogue also via CDROM without maintaining 2 applications. But they don't want to be supporting people trying to install PWS so it needs to be automatically configured and that may be a problem. I imagine that becuase you had control of the laptop configuration you could setup as you wanted and they where all pretty much the same.

What you describe sounds exactly like what I wanted to do except that in my case read Foxpro instead of MSDE.

Seems like there may be a niche for a product here to run Internet apps locally. ButI don't have the skill to create it (at the moment)
