I use the frmSearchForm.Refresh() with a button on the same frmSearchForm ! When I use ThisForm.Refresh() in stead of frmSearchForm.Refresh() everything works just fine. When I do the same trick on the main form both ThisForm.Refresh() and frmMainForm.Refresh() works.
