Highlighting the first record in a listbox is easy: use

thisform.list1.selected(1)=.t.

(check first, if you have records in a listbox, of course - I added check by _tally)

Seek should work, I believe, or you can use locate.

>:) Thanks. That did really helped me. BTW, since I was out yesterday, I didn't test for the SEEK to locate back to the live table. Now, my little boy boss gave me something else, didn't quite like it (hey?). He wants the first record hitelited after the 'Find' button (if a record showed up on the listbox). I worked quite hard on this making it that way, to prevent errors, to force the user to mouse over the listbox and pick the record, to be safe, but now... But, thanks for the help to get me this far. I told him few times if he wants to FINISH this project or around with PREFERANCES... I don't think he understand that.
